NorthStone Country Club Engagement Photos
Timeless Film and Digital Wedding Photography in Charlotte NC
Engagement Session at NorthStone CC, Huntersville NC
There is no better way to prepare for beautiful wedding photos than spending an evening with your wedding photographer for an engagement session. Beyond creating great photographs, engagement sessions give us the opportunity to get to know one another, build trust, and realize that being in front of the camera can actually be fun.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Meredith and David during their engagement session at NorthStone Country Club. With its classic clubhouse, manicured grounds, and 18-hole golf course, NorthStone offered the perfect backdrop for celebrating a wedding engagement.
We began our session around the charming gazebo, where gentle shade created a romantic setting for easy portraits. From there, we explored the clubhouse grounds, taking advantage of the beautiful landscaping before making our way to the golf course.
My favorite location at NorthStone for pictures are two angles around the 18th hole when the sun is in the right spot. Natural rock formations behind the green there add texture to the images. Staying away from stiff poses, I encouraged the couple to laugh, talk, and enjoy the moment. It’s the genuine interactions that become photographs many couples treasure most in the years to come.
A big reason I like engagement sessions so much is because they change the wedding day experience. By the time the wedding arrives, my couples already know exactly what to expect. They're comfortable with my guidance, confident in front of the camera, and free to simply enjoy every moment. Instead of wondering what to do, they can focus on each other—and that's when the most authentic photographs happen.
Shooting Analogue with Kodak Ektacolor Pro 400 Film
For this session, I combined the best of both worlds by photographing with the latest digital cameras alongside vintage professional film cameras. Digital allows me to capture fleeting moments with precision, while film brings a timeless softness and organic character that can't be truly replicated. Together, they create a gallery filled with real, emotional images that celebrate the unique connection between each couple.
Looking forward to the St. Mark Catholic Church Wedding
This engagement session was only the beginning of our wedding journey together. This fall, I'll have the honor of photographing their wedding at St. Mark Catholic Church followed by a celebration back at NorthStone Country Club. As a Catholic photographer, weddings celebrated in the Church carry special meaning for me, and I'm looking forward to documenting the sacrament of marriage for them.
Engagement sessions are about so much more than beautiful pictures—they're the first chapter in documenting one of life's greatest adventures. If you're planning your own Charlotte wedding and looking for a Catholic wedding photographer who blends timeless film photography with modern digital imagery to create natural, joyful photographs, I'd love to hear your story.
