Some weddings feel effortless. From the peaceful countryside setting to the joy shared by family and friends, Morgan and Alex's wedding at the Robertson Homestead in Rock Hill was one of those days that unfolded beautifully from beginning to end.

Nestled outside Charlotte, Robertson Homestead offers a combination of countryside, historic charm, and timeless architecture. The property strikes the balance between refined elegance and Southern hospitality, making it an ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel both sophisticated and welcoming.

A Clemson Love Story That Began During COVID

Morgan and Alex's story is one that reminds us how meaningful relationships can grow even during life's uncertain seasons.

While both students at Clemson University, their relationship began in an unconventional way. When the pandemic separated students from campus, they spent countless late nights FaceTiming, watching movies online, and simply keeping each other company through a challenging time.

When classes resumed, they returned to Clemson and lived just two floors apart in the same residence hall. A shared class and plenty of time together allowed their friendship to growing into something much deeper.

Last year, Alex proposed at a lakeside park in Clemson—a place that had been a gathering spot during college. It was the perfect full-circle moment before beginning the next chapter of their story together.

A Beautiful Morning at Robertson Homestead

The wedding day began inside Robertson Homestead's restored historic home, where Morgan and her bridesmaid enjoyed a relaxed morning getting ready. The soft natural light streaming through the windows created the perfect atmosphere for timeless portraits and quiet moments before the celebration began.

One of the things I love most about Robertson Homestead is how quiet corners of the property photographs beautifully. Whether inside the home or the surrounding outdoors, there is no shortage of backdrops that feel natural and organic.

An Outdoor Garden Ceremony

Morgan and Alex exchanged vows in Robertson Homestead's shaded garden ceremony space alongside a gently flowing stream. Surrounded by mature trees and lush greenery, the ceremony felt intimate and peaceful despite the excitement of the day.

The natural landscape allowed the focus to remain exactly where it belonged—on the couple, their families, and the commitment they were making to one another.

Following the ceremony, we explored the property together for portraits, taking advantage of the rolling fields, mature trees, and classic architecture that make Robertson Homestead one of my favorite wedding venues in the Rock Hill area.

Brunch Reception with Southern Charm

Instead of a traditional evening reception, Morgan and Alex chose a joyful brunch celebration inside Robertson Homestead's new reception hall. The relaxed atmosphere perfectly reflected their personalities. After brunch, guests gathered outside to play lawn games, delicious desserts, and a favorite surprise of the day — snow cones!

It was the kind of reception where people laughed and simply enjoyed spending time together, creating memories that felt genuine rather than rushed.

Capturing the Day on Kodak Portra 400 Film

One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was photographing the entire day using Kodak Portra 400 film alongside my digital cameras.

Portra 400 continues to be my favorite wedding film because of its organic color, beautiful skin tones, and timeless character. Film has a way of rendering light and emotion that simply feels authentic, especially in outdoor garden settings like Robertson Homestead.

Alongside film, I also photographed the wedding digitally, carefully processing every digital image to match the look and feel of the film. The result is a seamless gallery where every image shares the same timeless aesthetic, allowing couples to experience their wedding day as one cohesive story rather than a mix of different styles.
