A Beautiful Wedding with Catholic and Greek Orthodox Traditions

There are weddings that are beautiful because of the details, and there are weddings that stay with you because of the people. This celebration at St. Matt’s and Longview in Waxhaw was both. The day was a one-of-a-kind faith-filled celebration with Dutch, Greek, Roman Catholic, and Greek Orthodox elements that create incredible moments.

Claire was stunning in her wedding gown and veil, and positively lit up every room she entered. This wedding was even more meaningful to me because the groom was one of my daughter’s soccer coaches. Watching him invest his time in encouraging young athletes made it especially rewarding to witness him begin this new chapter of life. It's one of the things I love about photographing local weddings in Charlotte—realizing I’m part of a wonderfully connected community.

An Analogue Perspective with Kodak Portra 400 Film

A favorite aspect of this wedding was photographing moments on Kodak Portra 400 film. Film has a way of slowing the creative process and encouraging intentionality, and renders skin tones beautifully. The result feels timeless rather than trendy — images that will look just as beautiful decades from now as they do today. Throughout the wedding day, I photographed on both film and digital cameras. Using digital allows me to capture fast-moving moments and complete coverage, while film provides the distinctive character and depth that so many couples love. During editing, I color-graded every image to creating a cohesive gallery where the storytelling remains consistent. The result is a wedding collection that combines the reliability of modern photography with the timeless beauty that film provides.

Photographing What Matters Most

If you're planning a wedding at a Catholic or Greek church in Charlotte, or The Club at Longview, I'd love to help tell your story with a blend of timeless film photography and carefully crafted digital pictures. My goal is simple: creating photographs that feel just as meaningful fifty years from now as they did on the day they were made.
