Film Engagement Session at Alexander Homestead
Spring afternoon in love, caught on film at Alexander Homestead in Charlotte NC. This engagement session felt like the perfect preview of everything this couple’s wedding day will be: joyful, timeless, and centered on simply being together. On a sunny April afternoon in Charlotte, we walked the private grounds of this historic estate capturing moments on Kodak Portra 400 film, documenting this season of their lives with a softness and authenticity that only film can provide.
Later this summer, these two will exchange vows at St. Gabriel Catholic Church before celebrating with family and friends back at Alexander Homestead for their reception. Photographing their engagement session at the same venue where they’ll soon celebrate their marriage made the experience even more meaningful. Pathways, garden corners, and stretch of golden light carried the anticipation of what is to come.
As a PPA-trained Certified Professional Photographer specializing in weddings, my goal is faithfully telling couples’ stories in a way that feels honest and timeless. If you’re planning a wedding in Charlotte and drawn to organic, true-to-life photographs — on digital or film, I’d love to connect and hear more about your plans.
Extended Wedding at The Union Exchange
An Extended Wedding Weekend at The Union Exchange in Monroe, NC
Photographing a wedding weekend is about stepping into a deeper experience for the wedding party — and this celebration at Union Exchange in Monroe, North Carolina was exactly that. From Friday through Sunday, the couple and their families created a meaningful, immersive experience for their guests, with loved ones traveling from across the country to be part of it all. Every moment unfolded across the venue’s expansive 54-acre property, giving the entire weekend a sense of intention, and continuity.
The weekend began with a warm, welcoming energy as guests settled in, reconnecting ahead of the wedding day. By Saturday, there was a refreshed sense of closeness among everyone.
Capturing the Day with Digital and Film
As a PPA-trained Certified Professional Photographer specializing in weddings, my goal telling each couple’s story in a way that feels honest, timeless, and true to who they are. This wedding was photographed with a blend of digital and film photography, a combination that continues to shape how I document weddings. Digital allowed me to move quickly and capture fleeting moments as they happen—especially during candid interactions throughout the day. Film often brings a slower, more intentional approach. During quieter moments, film creates images with a softness and depth that feels both timeless and organic. The balance between the two mediums tells a fuller story, one that reflects the vibrancy and intimacy of the wedding weekend.
If you’re planning a wedding weekend around Charlotte NC and are drawn to sweeping private outdoor spaces, The Union Exchange is a wedding venue you should visit. And if you’re looking for a photographer to capture your wedding timelessly on both digital and film—I’d love to tell your story.
Waterfront Engagement at Trump National Charlotte
Waterfront Lake Norman engagement pictures at Trump National Golf Club Charlotte in Mooresville, NC. Some engagement sessions feel especially personal because they take place in locations that already hold so much meaning in a couple’s story. For this sweet pair, we photographed their engagement photos at two special places: the mother of the bride’s waterfront home on Lake Norman and Trump National, where they’ll be married later this year. As a PPA-trained Certified Professional Photographer specializing in weddings, my goal is faithfully telling couples’ stories in a way that feels honest and timeless. If you’re planning a wedding in Charlotte and drawn to artistic, timeless storytelling — on digital or film—I’d love to tell your story.
Bridal Portraits on Film
These bridal portraits was about slowing down and photographing on film. In a world that moves quickly, film invites intention—each frame composed carefully, each moment preserved.
For this bridal session, I photographed entirely on Kodak Portra 400, my favorite film stock for creating timeless wedding and bridal images. Portra 400 has long been beloved by photographers for its beautiful color palette, gentle contrast, and the way it renders skin tones with incredible natural warmth. The film has a soft, luminous quality that feels both nostalgic and refined—perfect for capturing the elegance and emotion of a bride in the quiet moments leading up to her wedding day.

Proposing at Daniel Stowe Conservancy
A timeless Saturday morning captured on film, as this boyfriend proposed to his girlfriend in the Williamson Conservatory at the Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Belmont, NC. There’s something incredibly meaningful about being invited into one of the most intimate moments of a couple’s story — the very beginning of their engagement. Given the time of year, seasonal blooms, and the weather forecast, we selected the stunning Williamson Conservatory as the proposal location.
The Carolinas’ only 8,000-square-foot, five-story glass house, the Williamson Conservatory is nothing short of magical. Inside the greenhouse, an indoor waterfall flows beneath a canopy of lush tropical plants, while orchids bloom year-round. No matter the season outside, it’s a romantic botanical escape.

Film Engagement Session on The Green
A joy-filled afternoon on film with this sweet couple in Uptown Charlotte, steps away from where they’ll marry this year at St. Peter Catholic Church. Film brings unmatched softness and timeless quality, while digital contributes flexibility and control. I process the film from my lab’s negatives scans to tailor the aesthetic to each couple — honoring their connection, venue, and vibe from the day. The result is imagery that feels intentional and personal. Plaza Midwood Wedding at The Long Room
A Plaza Midwood Wedding at The Long Room in Charlotte, NC
There’s something warm and honest you can feel about weddings that are 100% planned by just the couple, and this wedding at The Long Room in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood was exactly that. Rich with mid-century brickwork, and local art on display, The Long Room was the perfect venue for a celebration that felt equal parts intimate and effortlessly cool.
Originally built in 1953, The Long Room embraces its past while feeling distinctly modern. The venue’s exposed brick and concrete walls, preserved from the original structure, create a textured, urban backdrop that photographs beautifully. Throughout the space, rotating original artwork by local Charlotte artists adds color, creativity, and a sense of place—making every angle feel unique and alive.
A Venue Designed for Energy and Flow
One of the standout features of The Long Room is its thoughtful layout. The large sprung dance floor anchors the celebration, while the wrap-around balcony with wrought iron railing offers guests a unique vantage point and gives couples dramatic photo perspectives. Whether it was guests watching heartfelt moments from above or dancing late into the evening below, the balcony added a layer of visual interest that made this wedding feel dynamic and immersive.
The venue also features a full bar—always a guest favorite—and an outdoor courtyard, which provided a relaxed space for conversation, fresh air, and candid moments away from the dance floor. It’s the kind of venue that encourages connection, and genuine moments throughout the day.
Capturing the Day with Digital and Film
As a PPA-trained Certified Professional Photographer specializing in weddings, my goal is always to tell a couple’s story in a way that feels honest, timeless, and true to who they are. For this wedding, I used a blend of digital and film photography, allowing me to capture both precision and emotion in complementary ways.
For film, I photographed on Kodak Portra 400 for color and Ilford Delta 3200 for black and white—films known for their beautiful tonal range, soft grain, and ability to handle challenging light with grace. Shooting film in a venue like The Long Room, with its moody textures and ambient lighting, adds a richness and depth that feels especially fitting for a historic space.
All film was shot on my Canon EOS 1V paired with a Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS lens, a combination that allows me to work fluidly, stay present in the moment, and capture scenes as they naturally unfold. The result is imagery that feels classic without being stiff—photos that will still feel meaningful decades from now.
A Celebration Full of Character
This wedding was a beautiful reflection of the couple themselves: warm, expressive, and rooted in authenticity. From laughter echoing across the balcony to quiet moments shared in the courtyard, The Long Room offered endless opportunities for storytelling.
If you’re planning a wedding in Plaza Midwood and are drawn to venues with history, art, and architectural character, The Long Room is truly one of Charlotte’s hidden gems. And if you’re looking for a photographer who blends editorial sophistication with genuine, candid moments—captured on both digital and film—I’d love to tell your story.
Digital+Film Wedding Photographer
As a wedding photographer in Charlotte, NC, I’ve learned that every couple’s story deserves to be told with intention, emotion, and artistry. Over my twenty years of experience, I’ve refined my signature style of romantic elegance meeting editorial sophistication—pastel tones, luminous light, and candid moments with a polished finish. One of the most meaningful ways I achieve this balance is by photographing weddings with a mix of digital and film.
Blending both mediums allows me to create a wedding gallery that feels timeless yet modern, refined yet deeply emotional, and—above all—true to the couple I’m documenting.
I photographed this lovely newly engaged couple at the Mint Museum in Charlotte NC on Ilford HP5 Plus black and white 35mm film, as well as digital.
