NorthStone Country Club Engagement Photos
NorthStone Country Club Engagement Session | Huntersville, NC | Charlotte Wedding Photographer
There is no better way to prepare for stunning wedding photos than spending an evening with your photographer for an engagement session. Beyond creating beautiful photographs, engagement sessions give us the opportunity to get to know one another, build trust, and remember that being in front of the camera can actually be fun.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful couple during their engagement session at NorthStone Country Club in Huntersville, NC. With its classic clubhouse, manicured grounds, and 18-hole golf course, NorthStone offered the perfect backdrop for celebrating an engagement.
We began our session at the charming gazebo, where gentle shade created a romantic setting for relaxed portraits. From there, we wandered around the elegant clubhouse, taking advantage of the beautiful landscaping before making our way onto the golf course.
One of my favorite parts of the evening was photographing on the open green space behind the 18th hole. Natural rock formations behind the green added texture to the images. Rather than focusing on stiff poses, I encouraged them to laugh, talk, and enjoy the moment. Some of those genuine interactions become photographs that couples treasure most.
One of the reasons I love engagement sessions so much is because they change the wedding day experience. By the time the wedding arrives, my couples already know exactly what to expect. They're comfortable with my direction, confident in front of the camera, and are free to simply enjoy every moment. Instead of wondering what to do, they can focus entirely on each other—and that's when the most authentic photographs happen.
For this session, I combined the best of both worlds by photographing with the latest digital cameras alongside vintage professional film cameras. Digital allows me to capture fleeting moments with incredible precision, while film brings a timeless softness and organic character that simply can't be replicated. Together, they create a gallery filled with honest, emotional images that celebrate the unique connection between each couple.
What stood out most wasn't the beautiful scenery—it was these two. Their kindness, easy laughter, and genuine affection for one another made every location feel special. Watching them interact reminded me that the best engagement photographs are never about perfect poses; they're about preserving the real moments that tell the story of a relationship.
This engagement session was only the beginning of our journey together. This fall, I'll have the honor of photographing their wedding at St. Mark Catholic Church followed by a celebration back at NorthStone Country Club. As a Catholic photographer, weddings celebrated in the Church always carry special meaning for me, and I'm looking forward to documenting the sacrement of marriage for them.
If you're planning your own wedding and are looking for a Charlotte Catholic wedding photographer who blends timeless film photography with modern digital imagery to create natural, joyful photographs, I'd love to hear your story. Engagement sessions are about so much more than beautiful pictures—they're the first chapter in documenting one of life's greatest adventures.
